Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the BarterBug mobile application or website (Barterbug, “we”,”us”, “our”) you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, you may not use BarterBug. These [Terms] are a legal contract between you and Barterbug. Please read the terms carefully before using this [App], as they contain important information that may affect your legal rights. these terms contain a mandatory arbitration provision that waives your right to a jury trial and class action and requires use of arbitration on an individual basis. BarterBug is operated under Barter, Share Trade, SPC, in the United States and governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable U.S. federal laws.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, whichever is greater, to use BarterBug. By using the app, you represent and warrant that you meet this requirement.

3. Nature of the Platform

BarterBug facilitates the bartering and sharing of goods and services between users. No money is exchanged via the platform. All exchanges are arranged independently by users. We are not a party to any barter agreement, nor do we offer guarantees or mediation.

4. User Accounts and Conduct

Users must provide accurate and truthful information when creating an account or making a post on the app. Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts.

You agree not to engage in;

  • Fraudulent, misleading, or harmful activity
  • Posting prohibited items (e.g. weapons, drugs, fireworks, live animals)-see full list below
  • Harassment, discrimination, or hate speech
  • Using BarterBug for commercial resale or unauthorized advertising
  • Posting gift cards or other items that represent a set monetary amount
  • Sexual activity of any kind (including arranging “dates”)
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts at our sole discretion at any time.

5. Prohibited Items and Services

You may not barter, share, or post any of the following:

  • Illegal items under California or U.S. law
  • Prescription medications, controlled substances
  • Live animals
  • Weapons, explosives, firearms, guns
  • Alcohol, tobacco, vaping products, illegal drugs, marijuana, legal drugs
  • Adult content or services
  • Anything that infringes upon intellectual property rights
  • Any item that requires a permit for transport or possession
  • Posts that mention or imply dollar amounts or monetary value


We may update this list at any time.

6. Content You Provide

You retain ownership of content you post (images, descriptions, reviews) but grant BarterBug a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, host, display, and share your content for the purposes of operating the platform. You agree not to post false, defamatory, or infringing content.

7. No Warranties / Disclaimer

BarterBug is provided “as-is” and “as available”. We make no warranties, including no warranty of merchantability, no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose, or any representations regarding;

  • The accuracy or reliability of user content
  • The safety or legality of any barter arrangement
  • The conduct of any user or third party
  • Use of the platform is at your own risk

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BarterBug and its founders, shareholders, officers, employees, vendors, agents, contractors, affiliates, and service providers are not liable for any indirect or direct, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including any damages related to or arising from personal injury, death, property damage, or loss of value arising from the use of the platform.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BarterBug, its founders, developers, and agents from any claims, losses, or damages, including legal fees related to or arising from:

  • Your use of the platform
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Any dispute or arrangement with another user

10. Modifications to the Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If changes are material, we will notify you by posting a notice on the app or via email. Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or engage in harmful conduct or any activity that the app owners deem inappropriate. No documentation is necessary. Termination does not waive our rights under these Terms.

12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

You waive any right to a class action and agree to binding arbitration for disputes, to the extent permitted by California law. This agreement shall be exclusively brought in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, Dispute Resolution.

Any dispute, claim or controversy arising out of or in connection with these [Terms], including the existence, validity, or termination thereof, or your use of the [App], shall be resolved through binding, individual arbitration in accordance with the Consumer Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association, and judgment upon the award rendered by the arbitrator(s) may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof.

You hereby waive, with respect to any dispute, the right to participate in a class action, private attorney general action, or other representative action in court or in arbitration, either as a class representative or class member, and you additionally waive the right to consolidate claims with any other person.

13. Severability

If any provision of these [Terms] shall be deemed unlawful, void or for any reason unenforceable, then that provision shall be deemed severable from these [Terms] and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.

14. BarterBug does not sell or share your data with anyone.

Please email us to have your information removed from our data base.

15. Use the platform at your own risk.

Barterbug does not recommend or endorse any of its users. We do not screen any users.

BarterBug takes no responsibility for the actions of any user.
